Driveway cleaning in Canberra and Queanbeyan

Driveway cleaning removes the grime, oil drips, tyre marks, moss and mould that build up where you park and walk every day. We pressure clean concrete and paved driveways across Canberra and Queanbeyan, and we set the pressure to suit your surface, so pavers and older concrete get a gentler clean than a sound slab.

Every driveway is cleaned with a rotary surface cleaner. It spins the water jets under a cover, so you get an even finish without the stripes a hand-held wand can leave, and less spray on your walls, cars and garden.

Concrete driveways

Plain concrete is tough and handles a firm clean well. The usual problems are dark grime in the wheel tracks, oil under the car, and black or green growth along shaded edges. We pre-treat mould and moss, put a degreaser on oil stains and give it time to work, then clean the whole driveway with the surface cleaner.

If the concrete is cracked, crumbling or already worn, we use less pressure, because a strong jet can open up weak spots. We point out any existing damage before we start.

Paved driveways

Pavers need more care than concrete. Too much pressure can chip the edges and wash the sand out of the joints. We set a lower pressure for pavers, keep the surface cleaner moving and avoid aiming into the joints. We check for loose or broken pavers first and talk them through with you.

We don't re-sand paver joints or seal pavers after cleaning. If your joints need new sand or your pavers need sealing, that's a separate job for a paving or sealing specialist.

Oil stains, tyre marks and moss

• Fresh oil usually lifts well with a degreaser and a pressure clean.
• Old oil that has soaked deep into concrete often fades rather than disappears. We'll tell you what to expect before we start.
• Tyre marks are treated the same way as oil.
• Moss and mould are pre-treated before the clean. Shaded, south-facing driveways usually need cleaning more often than sunny ones.

What driveway cleaning costs

Driveway cleaning is priced by area, at $4.40 per square metre ($4 + GST), with a $187 minimum job ($170 + GST). The minimum covers driveways up to about 42 m².

To measure your driveway, multiply the length by the width in metres. Heavy oil staining, thick moss or a hard-to-reach area can take longer, and that can raise the quote. We confirm the price before we start. See our pressure cleaning prices for more examples.

Before we arrive

• Move cars, bins, pot plants and outdoor furniture off the driveway.
• Close nearby windows and doors.
• Make sure we can reach an outdoor tap.

You don't need to be home, as long as we can get to the driveway and the tap. We protect nearby garden beds while we work.

Wash water and ACT water rules

Water from a driveway usually runs to the street drain. In Canberra, there is no treatment plant for the stormwater system, so anything that goes into a drain ends up in our creeks and lakes. We sweep away loose dirt and leaves first, use only the product the job needs, and plan how to manage the wash water at each site.

The ACT's water conservation measures allow paved areas to be cleaned at any time with a bucket and mop or a high-pressure, low-volume cleaner.
